I suppose it could vary based on hardware version. Sorry I didn't jot that down before bridge mode. I'm happy with it in this mode, the Bell service is fabulous, no complaints but a watered down business router that won't allow VPN is probably not a good sales idea.
I was told by my ISP that I could buy this modem and not have to rent it. Anyone know where you can buy the Sagemcom fast ? PowrrPlayIf you are still interested in buying Sagemcom fastI have a brand new one that I bought from bell for Fibe Service but I no longer need because I have switched to a different service provider. Hey, thanks Peter. It works! When I follow these instructions above and others reference similar ones, I noticed a dramatic speed drop on my downloads.
Interestingly, the upload speeds remained pretty consistent. I retested a few different times on a few different days, my results are fairly repeatable at least from my home in Etobicoke, Ontario. There are alternate instructions on a Wiki that describe how to flash firmware, but those no longer appear to work on the newest firmware from Sagemcom. Just as well, I was not entirely comfortable doing this anyways.
All of this may be a non-issue for those on 30mbps and lower plans, but those on the higher end plans, curious to see if there are similar issues.
I'm likely going to try an alternative modem to Sagemcom's. It would sure be nice if this modem manufacturer could offer a proper bypass to its routing. Kind Regards. An update on the Sagecom saga.
So if you are using a MAC This particular router essentially kills any big download from a MAC computer on the other side of the router. Does brige mode support IP TV? How do you return to to normal mode ie sagemcom router active.
I had no end of trouble trying to do VPN networking with this device, trust me it doesn't work! Furthermore they have watered down the administration panels so you basically can't get at any advanced settings. They don't even give their technical resellers and information how to get into more advanced administrative functions. Don't even bother. Make sure you know what your PPoE username and password is and jot down any port forwarding settings you may have set up.
Make sure that your PPPoE settings are entered correctly and you have set up your lan and gateway settings on your own internal router. Honestly I think it is a commercial plot for these companies to restrict your access and not allow you to do things like VPN where you can encrypt your traffic Unknown March 19, at AM.

Site Tools Search.Everyone likes being in control - we don't want to be told that we aren't allowed to do something with our own hardware.
In this world of locked-down operating systems, proprietary software and rights-removed content, anything that gives us control over our hardware is a good thing. One such area is the world of wireless router hacking. You might not have come across it before, but it's a well-established niche that provides fresh, Linux-powered firmware for a wide range of wireless routers, which wouldn't necessarily get updated otherwise.
It's something you should be interested in: it gives you total control over your wireless routers, and it's fun. Before you dip a toe into these murky waters, you should be aware of the potential dangers. Router hacking isn't without its risks - if you try to flash a router with the wrong firmware, you'll brick it and end up with something that's about as useful as a concrete kite.
Because of this, we strongly recommend that you don't try it if you only have one router to hand. However, if you have a suitable old one lying around, you'll be able to revitalise it with a raft of new features that might even push your current router into the background. The idea here is simple: you circumvent the firmware upgrade process of an existing router to inject and run your own feature-packed software.
Over the years, certain manufacturers have made this job easier by making their router firmware and chipset software open source, thereby making it easier to implement third-party versions.
This has led to the creation of a number of router-hacking projects. We'll be looking at the benefits of some of the most common ones, because they tend to cater for different segments of the market. For our walkthrough, we're going to concentrate on DD-WRT, which tends to be more end-user orientated. Its main aim is to provide a working firmware that you can actually install. OpenWRT takes a slightly more high-brow approach, wanting to provide framework and source code support for embedded devices that also happen to be gateways and wireless routers.
Having said that, many devices have ready-compiled OpenWRT firmware, with comprehensive installation guides provided. Make sure you've got the exact one - there may be several with similar model numbers and designs.
Doing this will provide you with the correct firmware and tell you exactly how it should be installed. It's important that you follow the installation instructions to the letter - if you're told to do a power cycle or reset, do it. If these aren't cleared, they can play havoc with the new firmware, and cause you headaches trying to work out the source of the problem.Consider this when chosing a device to buy, or when deciding to flash OpenWrt on your device because it is listed as supported.
See Broadcom WiFi for details. The customer-specific configuration is lost when erasing the flash, so if you intend to ever use it with Sky again, consult the user forums on how to use a third-party router with the Sky service first. Please check out the article flash. It contains an example and a couple of explanations. We thus have to use the bootloader to flash OpenWrt to the router, which is only accessible via the serial interface inside the case.
Note: To flash OpenWrt we need to erase the flash first not the bootloader though. This will also delete configuration data used by the Sky firmware.
Resetting board Finished loading bytes Flashing root file system and kernel at 0xb Flashing File Tag Of particular interest is the possibility to run a kernel vmlinux straight from a TFTP server, which allows OpenWrt kernel development without actually flashing it. Numbers are Ports as labeled on the unit, 8 is the internal connection to the router itself. To remove the cover, unscrew the four screws holding together the upper and lower plate. They are located underneath the four rubber feet on the bottom of the router. No JTAG connector has been identified yet! As long as the CFE bootloader is not deliberately overwritten, it is easy to erase and reflash the router's flash memory using a serial terminal and a TFTP server.
